Zero Plastic Day

Dolphin swimming with plastic bag underwater – highlighting the importance of ocean conservation

As you know, our world is overflowing with too much plastic, and while we do need some plastic in our lives, too much of it is ending up in the oceans and littered across the Earth. We strive to educate the children at Ohana International School about how we can all contribute to caring for the Earth. We follow this principle every day by placing garbage into the designated bins according to their respective categories: plastics, combustible materials, food waste, tins, and PET bottles. We are going to be following CNN’s initiative with their  ZERO PLASTIC DAY on JUNE 8th, 2018.

How can we all contribute to making the day a ZERO PLASTIC DAY? We can all not use any plastic that day. ZERO PLASTIC. We are asking all our families to be mindful of what they send to school for snacks and lunches, as well as how they pack or send them on that day. We trust that we will have NO PLASTIC that day, in our entire school. What a huge contribution we will be making to take care of our Earth and the oceans.

We too can make a difference.
