Yearbook Photos

This morning, we had our second Yearbook Photo Day of the year together with class photos. Today was the final day for all children to have their individual photos taken as well as the group photos for each class all to be printed in this year’s Yearbook.

There are always one or two children who arrive in the school office, with the large umbrella lights, our resident photographer who they only meet twice a year and an environment that is mostly unfamiliar to them. The two children who were unsettled were eventually coaxed into sitting or standing and having their photo taking, even if they were not smiling. Sometimes individual school photos are not unsimilar to a passport photo.

Finding the right recipe for taking photos of young children is not easy and Kerry does an amazing job together with the Ohana International School teachers, who reassure the children and try their best to make them smile. We sometimes get the smile when the session is over and returning to do just one more, does not really work.

This year, we have only one child who missed having their individual photo and fortunately, we will be allowed to take a photo of him and it will be used for the Yearbook. The preparation for the Yearbook each year, is time consuming and filled with innumerable logistics. Is every child represented enough times? Are these the best photos of the children? Have we targeted every event and celebration and of course, have we showcased our alumni who visited us here in Tokyo and saw us at other schools?

The Yearbook brings together another amazing year at Ohana International School. A year filled with love, respect, consideration, caring, kindness, embracing difference, being honourable and fulfilling our social responsibilities, taking care of the earth and feeling that we are all enough.

Thank you for this year.

And thank you for all those that went before.
