Having a week off for Fall/Autumn Break gives our teachers the time to recharge before returning for the last lap of the calendar year. Even though our school year ends in early June, the lead up to December and the holiday season creates for all of us, a feeling of the end of the year (which it actually is, according to the solar calendar).
In Japan in particular, Fall/Autumn is a time when we welcome the cooler temperatures and embrace the beautiful warm colours that we find in nature. Hikers venture off into the countryside to enjoy their adventures and surround themselves with the abundance of majestic mountains that are very much a part of Japan’s natural beauty. Onsen’s too draw people away from the city to immerse themselves in the healing hot waters of Japan’s volcanic land.
What makes travel in Japan so easy, at this time and throughout the year, is the incredible train system. Efficiency and timeliness are understatements here. Please enjoy this time of year, just before the icy temperatures arrive and Fuji San displays her white cap, for all to see.
